WR + USAFA Association & Foundation: A Workplace Worthy of the Academy
"The new spaces in Wecker Hall have been received with outstanding support, everybody loves the new building and working in their areas."
- Chris Mazurek - Director of Projects & Facilities
Two teams, one home
Before Wecker Hall, the Association of Graduates and the Air Force Academy Foundation worked in separate buildings, which made daily collaboration hard. The Association serves graduates across reunions, career services, and more, while the Foundation fundraises to fill critical gaps for the Academy, including major capital needs and programs.
The new building was the chance to bring both sides together in a mission-ready environment that feels welcoming and purposeful.
“There's an endless amount of things that we do to service our graduates, and really the impetus of this building was to bring us all together.”
- Katie Willemarck - Chief Financial Officer
Furniture that matches the mission
WR aligned the furniture plan to the intent of the building so it reads as one idea from lobby to commons.
Colors, forms, and comfort work together, matching the building’s mid-century character while supporting day-to-day use.
“Workplace Resource helped shape the overall design by really bringing a sense of the merger of the furniture and the architectural design.”
- Chris Mazurek - Director of Projects and Facilities
A partnership that moved things forward
The team communicated early, kept decisions clear, and solved problems without drama.
When something needed to shift, WR was responsive and focused on outcomes, not excuses. The partnership felt practical and supportive from first walkthrough to final placement.
“They just really leaned into finding a way to 'Yes' and making it happen for us.”
- Katie Willemarck - Chief Financial Officer
Installation, accelerated
Timelines were tight, but the install team kept momentum high and the site organized.
WR coordinated deliveries, sequenced rooms, and finished faster than planned so the move-in could begin with confidence. The handoff was clean, on time, and ahead of expectations.
“The original schedule had us moving in after, but [WR] were able to get us in on time and actually sooner than our deadline.”
- Chris Mazurek - Director of Projects and Facilities
Everyday spaces, elevated with purpose
The commons brings people together for coffee, quick meetings, and team rituals, and conference rooms finally match the way work happens.
The building feels bright, connected, and easy to use, which shows up in how often people choose these spaces. It is a workplace that reflects the mission and the culture.
“It's a fun vibe. People really enjoy being in there.”
- Katie Willemarck - Chief Financial Officer
The close
A single home now supports two missions: serving graduates and powering the Academy. The building opens on time, the furniture plan works as intended, and the environment sets a higher bar for what a mission-driven workplace can be.
As momentum builds, Wecker Hall stands to be a meaningful part of the Air Force story.
