How WR Turned Public Needs into Design for the City of Northglenn
"The execution of the design and the functionality of the spaces really sort of came to light straight out of the box."
A Civic Heart, Built for People
Northglenn set out to create a welcoming “heart of the city” where residents feel invited and staff feel supported. The new City Hall needed to balance openness with safety, and look and perform like a long-term civic asset.
WR partnered with the city to plan, furnish, and deliver a cohesive workplace experience across public-facing spaces and employee areas, aligning selections and standards to that vision.
“We wanted a place that was welcoming and easy for the community to use, while also safe for employees… threading the needle between accessibility, transparency, and workplace safety.”
Designed with Intention
From day one, WR worked with a cross-functional stakeholder group to translate goals into furniture standards, finishes, and layouts.
The team organized choices into simple A–B–C tiers so decision-makers could clearly compare lifecycle, durability, and maintenance, keeping the conversation focused on value and fit, not just price.
“The A, B, C tiered pricing options let us understand lifecycle costs and durability across products and materials.”
Attention to Details
Public spaces set the tone for a civic building, so the foyer and lounge needed to feel immediately welcoming and durable. WR specified furnishings that balance comfort with resilience and aligned the look and feel of Council Chambers seating to the overall environment.
Those choices showed up fast in experience: the lounge became a highlight for both staff and community.
“The lounge area was a focal point from day one and still is to this day.”
Execution That Builds Confidence
Clear milestones and transparent communication kept everything moving, from procurement through install and move-in.
WR supported leadership communications, coordinated transitions for long-tenured staff, and handled on-site adjustments quickly so the building could open with confidence and without drama.
“I’ve never seen a more seamless transition on such a macro move executed so flawlessly.”
A Workplace That Works on Day One
The furniture plan clicked immediately. Staff embraced the new environment, storage and workspace needs were met, and tours from other agencies consistently remarked on the building’s quality and cohesion.
For the city, the outcome proved that thoughtful furniture and design can transform how a civic workplace feels and functions.
“We came from the dark ages into the modern era of office furniture… this is what a functional workspace can really be.”
A Successful Experience Throughout
City Hall opened on schedule and ready for use. The foyer and lounge were set, Council Chambers seated and aligned to the room, and staff moved into fully functional workstations without disruption.
Packaging was cleared the same day, punch-list items were handled on site, and the building began serving the public on a whole new level.
“Workplace Resource was lockstep on schedule, easy to work with, on time, on budget.”
“I was completely blown away at how efficient and effective they were on the install.”
